Central government borrowing and borrowing requirement
Statistics and forecasts regarding the central government’s borrowing needs and borrowing in different instruments. The borrowing need includes the net borrowing requirement and refinancing of matured loans.
Net borrowing requirement (budget balance in reverse)
The net borrowing requirement shows how much the government needs to borrow in order to cover budget deficits. If the budget indicates a surplus – meaning that revenue is greater than expenditure – the net borrowing requirement will be negative, and the central government debt is reduced.
